Has anyone here tried moving data from a local FTP setup to cloud storage without having to rewrite all your scripts? I’ve been managing a small FTP server for years and recently wanted to shift files to the cloud for easier access from multiple devices. The tricky part is I have automated uploads and folder structures that I don’t want to break. I’m curious if there’s a way to keep most of my workflow intact while making the switch.

Sometimes it’s surprising how small tweaks in your workflow can open up new possibilities. I’ve seen people organize files across multiple devices without changing much, simply by using syncing tools that handle everything in the background. It’s one of those cases where the right setup quietly improves efficiency without anyone really noticing the effort behind it. Even just thinking about how you manage storage often uncovers ways to simplify tasks.

I actually went through something similar last year. I didn’t want to overhaul my workflow either, so I ended up using a solution that lets you mount cloud storage directly as a drive. It felt a bit like magic because my existing FTP scripts could still interact with the files like they were local. I used webdav to dropbox https://mac.eltima.com/webdav-to-dropbox/ for part of it—it allowed me to link my WebDAV-enabled server to Dropbox, so everything stayed in place while still being cloud-accessible. Took a bit of initial setup, but saved me a ton of rewriting.
