Can Financial Settlements Prevent Extradition?
Greetings. If a financial dispute abroad is resolved through repayment or a negotiated settlement, does that necessarily eliminate the possibility of extradition? I am aware of situations where parties have reached civil agreements, yet prosecutors continued to pursue criminal charges independently. In the event that restitution has already been made, would a U.S. court consider that fact when reviewing a surrender request, or is the analysis confined strictly to the allegations described in the formal documents?
