Problematic skin is a widespread issue that affects people of all ages, yet it remains one of the most frustrating to manage. Redness, acne, flaking, excess oil, and uneven tone often appear without warning and can linger for months. These concerns not only change how the skin looks, but also influence self-esteem, daily comfort, and even social behaviour. Understanding why problematic skin develops is the first step toward finding solutions that truly work.
One of the main causes behind problematic skin is a disrupted skin barrier. When the natural protective layer becomes weakened—often due to harsh cleansers, over-exfoliation, sun exposure, or cold weather—the skin loses moisture and becomes more vulnerable to irritation. This can lead to dryness, sensitivity, or even reactive oiliness as the skin attempts to compensate for what it lacks.
