About four months ago I decided to try affiliate marketing with literally zero budget — no paid ads, no website, just a free Medium account and way too much free time on my hands. I’d read that it was possible to earn without spending anything upfront, but I was skeptical because most of the “free” guides I found still recommended paid tools somewhere along the way. What I ended up doing was focusing entirely on comparison-style content and answering questions in niche communities rather than pushing links directly. My first commission took about six weeks to arrive and it was small — maybe $40 — but it proved to me the model actually works when you’re patient. The biggest mistake I made early on was spreading myself across too many platforms at once instead of going deep on one. Has anyone here built their first $500 month without spending a single dollar on ads or tools?

Always assumed affiliate marketing required some kind of upfront investment — a website, paid ads, maybe a course. Turns out that assumption was completely wrong. Came across zero-cost affiliate marketing tips when I was researching low-cost side hustle ideas and it laid out a realistic path to getting started with literally zero budget. Used social media and a free blog platform exactly like the guide suggested and had my first affiliate link live within a day. Small commissions so far but the fact that it cost nothing to start makes every dollar feel like pure profit.
