In Act 3, Scene 4 of Romeo and Juliet, Lord Capulet hosts a party at his house. Romeo and Juliet are secretly married and are spending their first night together. However, Tybalt's death has just occurred, and Juliet's parents are unaware of her marriage to Romeo. Lord Capulet decides that Juliet should marry Paris, a wealthy and nobleman, to bring joy back to their family after Tybalt's death. Juliet is devastated by this news and refuses to marry Paris, as she is already married to Romeo. Lord Capulet becomes angry and threatens to disown Juliet if she does not agree to the marriage. Juliet seeks help from the Nurse, who advises her to go along with her father's wishes and marry Paris. The scene ends with Juliet being left alone to contemplate her difficult situation and the choices she must make. This scene sets up the conflict that will lead to the tragic events of the play's conclusion.
